“Yes, it’s mainly tied to spiritual beliefs…it seems to be mostly a world wide phenomena but some people also cremate their dead, that is they burn their bodies and spread the ashes. Usually somewhere that their loved one loved to be when they were alive or specifically asked to be placed.” “It is another form of connecting with the earth or sometimes the ocean.” Suzaku explains with a shy smile. “well, I am glad I was able to explain it in the least, sometimes people are too quick to jump to conclusions…to me your explanation makes sense.” He admits, the concept of Eden after all did sound familiar to beliefs of his own people. “There are many different kinds of beliefs humans have so…you never know, you may find parrallels with some humans, I can only really speak for the beliefs I grew up with, mostly Shinto with a little Buddhism, which is common among Japanese people. I know very little about the other religions of the world, there are really so many.”
Suzaku nods, understanding Draco’s predicament well. “Spreading the truth certainly isn’t easy, especially if you aren’t in a status of power or respect..but I am sure, somehow an opportunity will present itself.” He assures Draco, and also himself. “I myself am not an expert on Knightmare frames but I do know some basics, I am sure the library would at least have some books on the structure of Knightmare frames, it can get a little complex but if you have at least a basic understanding of mechanics you should be able to understand it just fine.” Suzaku chuckles lightly as Draco shows him his notebook and explains how he takes his notes. “That’s pretty smart, I can’t really understand French so you won’t have to worry about me reading your notes.” He exclaims in a somewhat playful tone.
Draco’s explanation causes his expression to sober. “I am surprised that there are so few humans that are peaceful with Dragons in your world, I suppose those who are would be outcast by other humans and maybe even some Dragons wouldn’t they?” He wonders as the realization dawns on him, it’s almost a parallel between the Japanese and the Britannians.
Draco nods, “Ah, I do think I can relate better to cremation rather than burial.” he pauses, ”Mmm yes. People at the academy seem especially prone to jumping to conclusions. They seem to prefer to look for excuses to throw magic around and start fights with anyone in their general vicinity” his tail flicks, “I can not say I know very much about religions. I am not sure if my father is part of one, but my mother is not and I spent most of my childhood with her so I do not follow any myself.”
Sighing Draco scratches the back of his neck, “Yes… I am certainly not in any position of power of influence. I may not even be in the social pyramid at all. I have noticed people have a tendency to forget my existence altogether even though I do not employ any kind of illusionary or cloaking magic. I do not know how to make myself appear invisible by reflecting light magic from my scales yet, and my scales only cover my ears, tail, and wings.”
Wings fluttering slightly his enthusiasm shows, “Yes, getting to know the basics first usually helps understand the more complex relatives.”
Smiling he tucks the pen and notebook away again, “Well… I know father encodes his notes. He also writes them in Latin. I expect that is why he forbade me from learning the language.” Draco looks slightly guilty and tries to force a smile, “I have learned a little bit, but indirectly!” he emphasizes, “There is some latin as well as German mixed in with the Draconian that Reisei’s family speaks. I have been learning that alongside her hatchling.”
“Well… actively hunting dragons as Knights in Aiden’s stories does not seem as common these days. Though Aaden did inform me of ‘Dragon Hunters’. Apparently they seek out Dragons to slay for sport; however, I have not met any. Humans also only seem to be slightly more accepting of Dragons who attempt to assimilate or denounce their dragonhood, as Reisei mostly had. If you do not do this you are usually regarded as a mindless beast. I dislike this intolerance because even if you do try assimilate you are regarded as a lesser being anyway so it seems pointless.” he nods, “Yes, it sounds about right for any sympathizers to be outcast by humans and dragons alike. Both my mother and Reisei’s mother object to human and dragon relationships in any regard, but especially romantic or sexual. I do not blame them after my experience. I would prefer to remain isolated from most of them myself as well now. Most of my associates at the academy are non-human or half-breeds like myself. I probably only know two humans who are tolerant and accepting of inhuman creatures, especially dragons. And you are one of them despite not being from my world. Viveka is the other. Any other humans I have know betrayed me” Draco frowns, “Considering how many non-humans there are in Edenian, especially on campus, I am not sure why humans deem themselves superior to us or that we should try be like them rather than accepting our differences.”
